Flexible Approach
Our main focus is on the uniqueness of your chapter. GreekBill's proprietary software is engineered with a flexible front-end application allowing a fully configurable solution tailored to your billing processes. The GreekBill application was developed with the idea that a chapter should not be limited or forced to alter the schedule it needs to bill its members. Instead, we are able to adapt to your chapter's unique needs and customize our system so that the perfect fit can be accomplished.

Cost to the Chapter
In most cases, the overall net cost of GreekBill's services pay for themselves. With GreekBill there are no start-up fees and getting started is just a click away. Just fill out our no obligation rate quote form, and a rate quote, contract, and information packet will be sent for your review. If you have any questions or would like to speak to a representative do not hesitate to contact our offices at 800-457-3816.

Formal Billing Statements
One of the first excuses executive boards hear from members is "I did not know how much to pay." This is never the case with GreekBill. Once your chapter has completed the simple start-up process, your members will receive itemized statements similar to their telephone or credit card statement. Members can also securely access their real-time account status as well as view their payment history and all previous statements.

Variety of Payment Methods
With GreekBill, each of your members will have the option of choosing a variety of payment methods, including payment by check, credit card, money order, or automatic draft from their checking or savings account. Members on payment plans have the option of having their credit card or checking account automatically debited on dates their payments are due. Payment via credit card can be made 24 hours a day via the internet on our secured web server.

Real-Time Financial Updates
Each chapter has an administrative user-role allowing the treasurer and/or executive board secure access via a unique username and password to view real-time financial reports at anytime. These reports can be viewed on the web or downloaded in either Excel or PDF format for further use.

Collections Made Easy
In order to collect your chapter's dues, GreekBill will not only send itemized statements, but will also make phone contact with chapter members and send collection letters customized to your specific chapter's timeline.

Your Personal Representative
Once a client of GreekBill you will be assigned a personal representative for your chapter. This representative will be able to assist your executive officers and members with any billing issues they may have.

Customized Contracts
During the startup process GreekBill can create personalized contracts for all your chapter's billing needs. Having competent contracts that are understood by both the executive board and its members is a good step forward in formalizing your billing system.

Greek Bill Website

All, I recently had a house corporation officer write me to ask about the Phi Kappa Tau Housing Fund. I'm posting my email response below. The Housing Fund chair is Rick Keltner. He is a member fo the National Council and can be found on The Link. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to post them here or to email Rick or me directly. Thanks!:

The Housing Fund is a loan fund operated by the National Fraternity. At our Convention in 1993, the Convention passed a motion to charge undergraduates an annual fee of $5 to go into a housing fund that could eventually be used to fund renovations or new construction.

Since then, the fee was raised to $15 (I'm not sure when they raised it, but I'm sure it was soon after they realized that $5 per man per year would only generate $15K a year). We currently have about $700K in assets (cash (investments) and outstanding loans).

The fund grows by about $45K a year through undergraduate fee assessment. The interest on the fund is "set aside" for educational programming - a provision of the IRS that allows us to exempt this non-dues revenue from income tax.

More information on housing can be found on The Link at http://link.phikappatau.org/content.aspx?item=The%20Link/Content/Chapter%20Management/Properties.xml

This study shows several alarming results as it relates to the variety of campus organizations that reported hazing, the knowledge of the advisors, and the manner in which students either react or tolerate the behavior.

After reading the below - please share your thoughts in this discussion thread.

Newsday.com
Study: Haz
ing Still a Problem on Campus
By DAVID SHARP

Associated Press Writer

11:31 AM EDT, March 11, 2008

PORTLAND, Maine

Virtually every college bans hazing, but more than half of college students belonging to campus organizations say they have experienced it in places from the glee club to the fraternity house, according to a new study.

Academic clubs and social and cultural organizations all haze new members, students told professors Elizabeth Allan and Mary Madden from the University of Maine's College of Education and Human Development.

"It's far more widespread than many people would've assumed," Allan said.

The professors' National Study of Student Hazing was based on responses from 11,482 students at 53 institutions. It was released Tuesday at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators meeting in Boston.

Among students who belonged to campus organizations, 31 percent of men and 23 percent of women reported participating in drinking games, and 17 percent of men and 9 percent of women reported drinking to the point of getting sick or passing out.

The professors, based in Orono, said previous research on hazing has focused on Greek organizations and athletic teams. Their research was based on an online survey of students who were chosen at random by college administrators. The team also interviewed more than 300 students.

No one else has undertaken such an ambitious study of hazing in higher education, said Norm Pollard, the dean of students at Alfred University and the leader of a national study of hazing among student athletes in 1999. Pollard was an adviser for the study.

The study found the highest rates of hazing (74 percent) among members of varsity athletic teams and fraternities and sororities (73 percent). But rates also were high for participants in club sports (64 percent) and performing arts organizations (56 percent).

Twenty-eight percent of participants in academic clubs and 20 percent of honor societies members reported being hazed, the study said.

A quarter of students who were hazed believed their organization's coach or adviser knew about it, and a quarter also reported being hazed in a public space on campus. Furthermore, 47 percent of respondents arrived at college having already experienced at least one hazing incident in high school.

Hazing has been banned by 44 states and virtually all colleges and universities. In fact, half of those who reported experiences that constitute being hazed said they were aware of anti-hazing policies, the study said.

However, nine out of 10 students who reported being subjected to behavior that constitutes hazing didn't believe they had been hazed, the professors said.

Activities the survey counted as hazing were skits or roasts where members are humiliated, singing or chanting in public, wearing embarrassing clothing, being yelled or cursed at, enduring harsh weather without proper clothing, drinking large amounts of alcohol, and watching or engaging in sex acts. As campuses have cracked down on alcohol, pledges or new members also sometimes have been forced to drink large quantities of water or milk, sometimes with deadly results, Allan said.

Gary Powell, a hazing expert in Cincinnati, said defining hazing is a potential problem with any study. Drinking to excess and physical abuse clearly are hazing, but the line is blurry for activities that don't put people at risk of injury, he said.

Many people define hazing the way Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart famously defined pornography: '"I know it when I see it,"' said Powell, who dealt with liability issues while working for a law firm that represents fraternities and sororities.

Allan and Madden didn't try to recommend solutions, but Madden said it's clear there's plenty of work to be done when a strong majority of students who are hazed don't realize it.

"They'll call it something else, team-building, or say 'I gave my permission to be treated this way.' It's a challenge for college administrators," Pollard said.

Copyright 2008 Associated Press. All rights reserved. You can find almost anything at this site by searching a subject, and once you’ve found the video you want, there is an option to “Embed” the video onto a website. (On YouTube, it’s found on the right-hand side under the video information in a gray box. It looks like a code or even a URL.) You should copy that text and then paste it wherever you want it to go on your profile. For example, if I wanted a video on my profile under “Interests” in the “Personal Information” box, I would go to “Edit My Profile,” “My Profile,” “Personal” and then paste the text/code in the “Interests” box.

Once you've tried to upload videos to your Link profile, it's fairly easy. If anyone has any tips or questions, please post!

I attended Leaders Conference at Baldwin-Wallace last weekend and let me say that it was great. For those of you who didnt go you missed out on a good time. The speakers were awesome and it was great to meet new brothers. Quick question though, I was able to get all of the handouts from Leaders but is their a way that I can get handouts from all of the other conferences as well, ie Capitol, West Coast Road Trip, Heartland, Bluegrass and Southeast. Thanks and HOOO-RAHHH

This forum is new so don't expect any Chicago people to be on here yet, but I'm looking towards the future. I know we don't have any chapters at Chicago schools, but I've heard that we have a lot of Alumni who live in Chicago especially right after they graduate.

Chicago Alumni Club used to be the strongest of all of our Alumni Clubs, hell they paid for the original Maxwell Trophy. Just seeing who is out their and what the interest is.

Also, I can try to give any help I can to recent grads who may need some help scouting out jobs in the city.

Is there a list of National Council members with their contact information on the wiki? I know we can get that info from the Link, but there's not a unified list or a Link Group for them.

Getting everyone in the same room for a BOG meeting monthly can be a chore. At Alpha Lambda, we have started using teleconferencing more so that Board members to not have to drive as much. The conference call service is called FreeConferenceCall.com and I highly recommend it. As the title says, it is a free service. The only downsides are the number is not toll free and we have had some issues in the past with Cingular cell phones working correctly. We have been using this service for a year and we're happy with it.

Eric Friese
BOG Chairman, Alpha Lambda
