Introduction
The Community Service Committee reports to the Community Service Chairman. Its purpose is assist with planning and coordinating philanthropy events and service projects for the chapter’s participation.
Why have a committee?
- A small group is able to work more rapidly, meet more easily, and discuss issues more effectively.
- Members are chosen for their expertise, ability and interest in the committee’s function.
- Committee membership provides excellent leadership training experience.
- Committees get the entire chapter involved in fraternity affairs.
- A committee allows the Chairman to adequately delegate responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
Functions of the Community Service Committee:
- Facilitate the development of chapter goals and objectives and execute tasks to achieve them.
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate all service projects.
- Ensure service projects operate effectively and provide a positive experience for members and the benefactors.
- Serve as chapter role models by actively participating in service activities.
- Help educate the chapter about the Hole in the Wall Gang Camps and other charitable organizations.
- Maintain a recognition and awards program as an incentive for active volunteer service.
- Promote Phi Kappa Tau’s leadership in service through positive public relations efforts.
- Positively represent the Fraternity to charitable organizations and community agencies.
