This is the order of business for chapter meetings as described in the Constitution and Ritual of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. This listing should come in handy for developing chapter meeting agendas and for serving as an outline for taking minutes at chapter meetings.

Meeting Agenda


  1. Opening Ceremony (Not public as described in the Ritual of Phi Kappa Tau).
  2. Invocation by the chaplain (May not be public according to Reflections of Phi Kappa Tau).

  1. Roll Call.
  2. Reading of the minutes.
  3. Reports of the officers.
  4. Reports of standing committees.
  5. Reports of special committees.

  8. Communications.

  1. Balloting on candidates (Not public).
  2. Remarks for the good of the chapter (Not Public).
  3. Closing Ceremony (Not Public as described in the Ritual of Phi Kappa Tau).

Note: Use of the gavel

Three raps (***) of the President's gavel directs members to stand; two raps (**) directs members to be seated; one rap (*) enjoins silence.
