Short Description

The purpose of the Alumni Relations Committee is to develop a program designed to strengthen interpersonal and written communication with the chapter’s alumni and other alumni in the area.

Why have a committee?

  • A small group is able to work more rapidly, meet more easily, and discuss issues more effectively.
  • Members are chosen for their expertise, ability, and interest in the committee’s function.
  • Committee membership provides excellent officer training experience.
  • Committees get the whole chapter involved in fraternity affairs.

Functions of the Alumni Relations Committee

  • Develop and implement a program designed to improve and enhance the relationship between undergraduates and alumni
  • Coordinate special alumni events with the social chairman and treasurer
  • Work with the Board of Governors and/or House Corporation to recruit additional alumni to serve in these capacities
  • Maintain alumni information files in a database which include names, addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, occupations, anniversaries, initiation dates, offices held, etc
  • Help coordinate the printing and distribution of the chapter newsletter
  • Work with key alumni to sponsor activities encouraging alumni participation
  • Develop “alumni awareness” among the undergraduates
  • Present awards to alumni in recognition of their service to the chapter and to recognize their professional accomplishments
